They are also used as spacing bars for stages, or checking the accuracy of Vernier and Dial Calipers. Both ends of the standards are hardened, ground and lapped flat to meet gaging requirements. Standard comes with a handle which prevents expansion due to body temperature. Heat insulating handle. Flat and lapped measuring ends.
